•   The awards

The LatiNum Awards have as purpose encourage, through a healthy competition, the effort on the design and technological quality highlighted on coins and banknotes issued in all Latin America. The rewards should stimulate and contribute to a prolific development of such capabilities in the region.
Were established in the year 2015 and in each edition is chosen, by a public votation, the best circulation coins, the best commemorative coins and the best banknotes issued between July 1st of the past year and June 30th of the current year. The choice is made through the electronic vote.

•   Participants

Take part of the choice all the coins and banknotes issued between July 1st of the past year and June 30th of the current year issued by all Latin American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela. While today is this the region that the organization aims to promote, is not discarded to incorporate new countries in the future.

•   The categories

The categories are three: "the best banknote", "the best circulation coin " and "the best collection coin". The criteria for determine the choice can be aesthetic, technical or any other that the voter thinks enough for highlight a piece by over the others.

•   The vote

The LatiNum Awards voting process is carried out during the 30 days prior to the date set for the awards ceremony, event in which are announced the results. The choice is public, free and can be done directly online. Everyone interested can vote from latiNum.com.ar, by completing a simple form and validating their vote by clicking on a confirmation link which will be sent to their email address. The voters, at the same time, will automatically participate in the raffle of coins, banknotes and specialized bibliography.

•   Awards ceremony

After being announced the winners of this year's edition, is made the delivery of the awards obtained in the previous season. They are welcomed by the authorities of the mints and central banks responsible for the design, manufacture and subsequent issuance of coins and banknotes winners.

•   Organization

The contest is organized by the Centro Numismático Buenos Aires, a civil and cultural nonprofit entity whose purpose is the diffusion of Numismatic science from the historical, aesthetic, technical and other aspects. This institution joins people with a particular interest in coins, banknotes, medals, tokens and related stuff. It is responsible for providing advice the history and the information on the features of the currency and their substitutes to collectors, researchers and general public. Therefore different groups of specialists are dedicated to the organization of seminars, competitions, conferences, conventions, round tables, publications, etc.
